Soy Resource Centre: Literature (food sovereignty)

Introduction:

The Netherlands is one of the world's largest soy importers in the world. Brazil is the second largest soy producer after the United States. One fifth of all the soy produced in Brazil is being exported to the Netherlands. Large amounts are being used as animal feed. Part is being processed in the Netherlands and soy products are being distributed to other European Countries. The production of soy has enormous ecological, economic and social impacts in Brazil.

Together with Dutch, European and Brazilian organisations, farmer's cooperatives and importers, Both ENDS is working towards a more sustainable soy chain. This includes among others promoting family farming, biological soy production and direct import, regionalisation, as well as discussing the impact and possible action to change the large-scale soy production.
